Durga Bai

Paintings which give a striking look because of their fine detailing, attracts the audience/viewers.
Durga Bai is a Gond artist of Madhya Pradesh(India).
Done with fine detailing, her paintings have interesting stories to tell. Her paintings are used in many books which are appreciated by Indian government. 
Sultana's dream is a short story based on feminism. She drew paintings for that beautiful story. Her paintings elaborated the story and made it much more interesting to read.
She herself is a very strong person.She belongs from Bhopal. She was a poor child. It was her talent which made her successful.
In 2004, Durga Bai was honored by the Handicraft Development Council. In 2008 she and two other Gond artists, Ram Singh Urveti and Bhajju Shyam, were presented the BolognaRagazzi Award in Italy for their illustrations in the children’s book, The Night Life of Trees, published by Tara Publishing. Durga Bai was also awarded the IGNCA Scholarship for 2006-2007.
