Candido Portinari

Candido Portinari was one of the most important Brazilian painters and also a prominent and influential practitioner of the neo-realism style in painting.When I looked at his paintings, I realized that his paintings are more about emotions than looks...one could feel that the subject was happy or sad. He generally drew paintings or sketches of laborers or of people who were struggling at that time. 

Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a major Post-Impressionist painter.When I was a child( I am still one)I thought he was really lucky for he could sell his paintings and earn a lot of money in return.But two days ago, while I was doing my research on him I came to know that he was through out his life poor. 
 July 1869, his uncle Cent helped him obtain a position with the art dealer Goupil & Cie in The Hague. After his training, in June 1873, Goupil transferred him to London, where he lodged at 87 Hackford Road, Brixton, and worked at Messrs. Goupil & Co., 17 Southampton Street.This was a happy time for Vincent; he was successful at work and was, at 20, earning more than his father. Theo's wife later remarked that this was the happiest year of his life. He fell in love with his landlady's daughter, Eugénie Loyer, but when he finally confessed his feelings to her, she rejected him, saying that she was secretly engaged to a former lodger. He became increasingly isolated and fervent about religion; his father and uncle arranged for him to be transferred to Paris, where he became resentful at how art was treated as a commodity, a fact apparent to customers. On 1 April 1876, Goupil terminated his employment.

He and his friends worked on pointillism.He lived there with his brother Theo but then after few years he shifted to Arles,France. Vincent painted all the time in Arles. His paintings took weeks to dry, therefore he needed many paints. This created problems as he had to chose between paints and food for he was poor. Thus, his brother started sending him paints.
Vincent loved to paint what he saw thus he painted in night with candles on his hat. that's why no one made friends with him for they thought that he was a weird.
One day, Vincent went weird and did cut off his ear to give it to a woman as a gift. police came and he had almost died till then.

After this, he kept on painting but he was changed and was really lonely.
When he was of 37, he killed shot himself. When Theo's son grew up he put Vincent's painting into a museum.
Vincent had started painting at the age of 27 and died at the age of 37 and in this short period he drew 1,700 paintings!!!!!!!!!but in this lifetime he sold only one.

Valentin Alexandrovich Serov

Valentin Alexandrovich Serov, born in Russia, was one of the most important painters of his era.The greatest works of Serov's early period were portraits: The Girl with Peaches (1887), and The Girl Covered by the Sun (1888), both in the Tretyakov Gallery. In these paintings Serov concentrated on spontaneity of perception of the model and nature. In the development of light and color, the complex harmony of reflections, the sense of atmospheric saturation, and the fresh picturesque perception of the world, there appeared the features of early Russian impressionism.

Hemanta Misra

Born in a small town of India, Hemanta Misra is internationally known for his beautiful paintings. Like a magician tricks mind,a chef tricks taste, Hemanta Misra could trick your eyes. They were simple paintings, reflecting emotions. His paintings could change ones mood.

He was honored Asom Sahitya Sabha and was presented Kamal Kumari award for 2006. His paintings include After the storm, Peace,An image,Boatman on Puri beach, Candle of Life, Dancing Trees,dream Symphony, Wood Gatherer, The harvest,The Echo of a Song.
